Walking with God

Walking with God has never been about empty religion – keeping a list of rules and trying to be good enough. We can never be good enough. That’s why relationship with God is a free gift! Just simply walk with Him day-by-day. Talk to Him. Get to know Him. He will set you free.

Baptism is an important part of following Jesus. We don’t get baptized to get a relationship with Jesus. No! We get baptized because we ALREADY have a relationship with Jesus! Baptism is our public confession that we have chosen to follow Him.

Just as trust is important in a marriage or a friendship, trust is very important in your relationship with God! He is worthy of your trust! He will not let you down! You can believe what He says. We may lie, but God does not.

When we believe on Jesus and are saved, God gives us His Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God moves into us! We become His residence! This provides a way for us to live victorious lives! God never intended for His children to be defeated.

How can you trust God if you don’t know what His promises are? How can you obey Him if you don’t know what His teachings are? This is why reading the Bible is so critical. It is an important part of walking with God day-by-day. Get a Bible and begin to read it!

The teachings and commands of Jesus are good and right. They are not heavy burdens like the rules we create. A person who hears Jesus’ words and puts them into action is very wise, and this is how we show God that we love Him – we obey His teaching.

Communication is important in any relationship, and it is certainly important in your relationship with God. Talk to Him everyday. This is all prayer is – talking to God! He is near to those who call out to Him. He loves to hear from you!

When we sin, what does God want us to do? He wants us to come to Him! We need to daily come before God, confessing our sins and mistakes to Him. He freely gives cleansing and forgiveness, and this maintains a healthy relationship with God. Trust His love!

Love is the greatest calling we have on our lives. Jesus said the greatest command is to love God. The second greatest is to love our fellow man. Love is the evidence that we know God, because God is love. Learn to love like God does.

There is so much confusion about what true love is. Fortunately, God tells us what it is! He has called us to selflessly love Him and others the way He has selflessly loved us. We are even called to love our enemies with the love of Jesus! This is life-changing love.

God desires His children to do two things: show mercy and have true knowledge of God. So many people try to do special, religious things to make God happy… but that’s not what He wants. He just wants us to love Him and love those around us.

Attending church can be very beneficial in helping a person grow and mature in their walk with God. The secret is finding the right church. But there are so many choices! In this video, we examine how to find a church that follows God’s priorities.
